ROCKINGHAM MOTOR SPEEDWAY – NEXT STOP FOR BEECHDEAN
After a short break its back to racing for the Beechdean Motorsport team as they head to Rockingham for Round 3 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship on Sunday 25th & Monday 26th May 2008.
In the first two meetings the Ginetta G50’s have held sway; however at Rockingham two new manufacturers will join the GT4 line-up. A Nissan 350Z and a Maserati Trofeo will join the field. Also ahead of this weekend some equalization changes have been announced that are designed to bring the performance of the different cars on the GT4 grid closer together.
Rockingham is Europe’s fastest banked oval racing circuit, with the unbeaten lap record for the 1.5 mile oval set at 24.719 seconds by Tony Kanaan in his Ford/Lola Champ Car on 22nd September, 2001 - an average speed of 215.397mph!
Rockingham offers multiple in-field circuit configurations, featuring hairpins, straights and chicanes with ample passing and run-off areas.
