EARLY EXIT DENIES BEECHDEAN MILES AT SILVERTONE

After an enthusiastic start to the weekend the Beechdean Motorsport Team suffered a set back when a minor brake problem denied them valuable track time during the Britcar 3-hour endurance race on Saturday.

Andrew Howard was behind the wheel at the start and had a good opening lap when problems struck and the car ran wide under braking coming to a stop some 4 feet into the gravel. Unfortunately as there was no recovery vehicle available to free the car, so it was the end of the race for the Buckinghamshire based team.

Andrew Howard Racing Driver/Team Principal

“To have the race end after only a couple of laps is so disappointing. We had an ABS fault come up on the green flag lap, so we think this could be part of the problem. The most frustrating thing is that we could not be moved from the gravel to fix the problem and get back out on track. Up to that point we were happy with the progress we had been making and were adapting well to the Dunlop’s. Also having Miles come into the team for the weekend was good and we were happy that he adapted to the car so quickly, but sadly he did not get to race with us. "

It was a huge disappointment for the team as they were looking forward to track time in preparation of the Britcar 24-hour. However they remain optimistic that the information they did collect will be a valuable contribution for the endurance event which takes place on the Silverstone Grand prix circuit the 20th & 21st September.
