Saturday 11th & Monday 13th April 2009
The 2009 season kicks of this weekend for Beechdean-Barwell Motorsport.
Andrew Howard & Jamie Smyth will be behind the wheel of the GT3 Aston Martin DBR S9 whilst Richard Jones and Ben de zille Butler will contest the GT4 category with the Beechdean-Barwell run Aston Martin Vantage N24.
Both Ben & Richard are familiar faces within the British GT paddock. Richard has had a successful career in motorsport having previously raced single-seaters and sportscars. He credits the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race as something he relishes having been involved in the prestigious event on 17 occasions. Ben is the 2006 Autosport Caterham Eurocup Champion and has raced in British GT’s since 2007.
The eight-meeting, 14-race event, features rounds at all of the UK's top circuits, and in addition see’s the championship head to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps GP circuit in Belgium where they will support the Le Mans Series event in May.
One of the UK's leading newspapers, The Independent, is to become the official media partner to the British GT Championship in 2009 and the championship will also enjoy significant terrestrial and satellite TV coverage this season.
One-hour stand-alone programmes on each championship will be aired on Motors TV, both in the UK and across Europe, after each race meeting, with 30-minute shows on Channel 4, provisionally scheduled for Saturday mornings.
The Avon Tyres British GT Championship races from Oulton will be shown on 25th April at 6pm (GMT).
Oulton Park Widely acknowledged as the most picturesque race circuit in the country, Oulton Park is recognised as much for its stunning surroundings as the spectacular racing that takes place on its hallowed tarmac. Oulton Park features rapidly changing gradients and blind crests, and presents a supreme challenge for the drivers. Spectators can enjoy fantastic views of the action, with the outside of Knickerbrook in particular providing a stunning viewing area.
